Manchester United star Ashley Young set for talks with Jose Mourinho over Old Trafford future and wants boss to keep him another year
Wideman who is out of contract next summer was expected to move on during the transfer window but hopes to stay until 2018
ASHLEY YOUNG is set to sit down with Jose Mourinho shortly to thrash out his Manchester United future.
The 32-year-old is out of contract next summer, and was expected to leave during the previous transfer window.
He has a 12-month extension option in his deal, which United could activate, but he would only be used as a squad player.
Mourinho is expected to tell the England winger he can move on, and the club will not stand in his way if he wants regular football.
But it is thought he wants to stay at Old Trafford, and will ask for the extra one-year on the same terms.
Young was the target of a number of bids and enquiries from across Europe during the transfer window.
But he stayed after Premier League suitors were put off by United's asking price for the ex-Watford ace.
A Red Devils source said: "Ashley and the boss are going to sit down with his reps and discuss his future.

"He can leave on a free next summer but has the option. The club won't stand in his way if he wants to go though.
"You have to appreciate he wants to play more with his career coming to the later stages. He does love it here though."
Young - who was also looked at by Chinese Super League clubs - joined United in 2011 for £15m from Aston Villa.
He has gone on to make 120 Premier League appearances and score 11 goals in his six seasons at the club.
