AXE READY TO FALL

Frank de Boer has just ONE GAME to save his Crystal Palace job… but it won’t come easy away to Burnley at fortress Turf Moor

The Eagles have lost the opening three games of the Premier League season having failed to even score a single goal

FRANK DE BOER has just ONE GAME to save his Crystal Palace job, according to reports.

The Dutch boss has held talks with Eagles chairman Steve Parish in the last few days after the club's desperate start to the new Premier League season.

Palace have lost all three games, and have failed to score a single goal, leaving de Boer favourite to be the first top-flight manager to get the boot.

The Telegraph reports that Palace "thought long and hard" about sacking de Boer in the international break, but have given him one last chance to "indicate a willingness to change his approach".

But with an away trip to Burnley the next game, de Boer could be fighting a losing battle.

The Claret's Premier League survival in recent years has been upon making Turf Moor somewhat of a fortress, and de Boer and his players are sure to find a hostile atmosphere.

The Eagles boss took training as usual on Wednesday and Thursday, leaving many to believe Burnley is his date at the "last chance saloon".

SunSport exclusively revealed three days ago how the former Dutch international is facing the sack at Selhurst Park after just three games.

After defeat by Swansea last weekend, De Boer was under pressure to change his tactics and try to adapt to English football.

But concerns are growing and he could be the first top-flight sacking of the season.

As revealed by SunSport, Roy Hodgson will be among the contenders when a change is made at Selhurst Park.

De Boer has attempted to bring a Dutch style to Palace since his appointment this summer.

He brought in countrymen Jairo Riedeweld and Timothy Fosu-Mensah to revamp his defence, but they have conceded six goals without reply.

Mamadou Sakho, on loan at Palace last season, has now been bought for £26million from Liverpool to try to get things started — but it may be without De Boer.
