Wayne Rooney all smiles at Everton training as he puts drink-driving antics behind him ahead of Tottenham clash
Former Manchester United and England striker has been charged after being over the limit while behind the wheel
WAYNE ROONEY has been pictured in Everton training for the first time since his shameful drink-driving antics.
The former England ace has been charged after testing over the legal limit for alcohol while behind the wheel following an evening of debauchery which has left his marriage in tatters.
However, Rooney has returned to Everton ahead of their home game against Tottenham this weekend.
And the ex-Manchester United captain was all smiles on the pitch as he was put through his paces by the Toffees’ coaching staff.
Whether Rooney starts when Spurs visit Goodison Park remains to be seen.
But boss Ronald Koeman has promised that the veteran will be punished internally after his recent woes.
The Dutch tactician said: “I am very disappointed. In line with any disciplinary matter, this will be dealt with internally by the club at the appropriate time.
“He will play this Saturday (but) if I see that Wayne is not in a physical or mental condition to play then he won’t play.”

Koeman also took time to explain Ross Barkley’s failed move to Chelsea, adding: “Ross came to see me on Tuesday and he explained why he turned down (the move).
“That is a private talk with Ross and I am not the right man to explain to you about his decision. He was open to make a move to another club.
“From what I heard there was an agreement but the decision was by the player.
“He is still an Everton player and he has a contract until the end of the season. I don’t have to take a decision, I can wait to see what happens and then we will see.”
