MAREK HAMSIK has admitted it would be hard for him to turn down a move to Manchester United if they ever came calling.

Napoli star Hamsik is regarded as one of the best creative midfield players in Europe after shining in Serie A.

The Slovakian has been chased by a string of top clubs throughout the game but has always chosen to remain loyal to Napoli.

Yet there has always been a frustration at the inability to mount a sustained challenge to win the Italian title in recent years with Juventus so dominant.

And the opportunity to move to one of the biggest clubs in world football would leave the icon of Naples with a tough decision to make.

Speaking in an interview with German magazine Kicker, Hamsik was asked whether a move to Manchester United, Bayern Munich or Barcelona would appeal to him.

He replied: "That's hard to say. It would surely be the hardest decision of my career.

"Maybe everyone wants to play at these clubs, but I can't answer that.

"I think that Napoli is one of the top ten European teams in terms of gameplay and performance."

United have embarked on major squad rebuilding since Jose Mourinho took over at Old Trafford just over a year ago.

But Mourinho has admitted he still believes it will take another summer transfer window before he is finally happy with the squad at his disposal.

And a player of Hamsik's status would fit in well with his plans - although at the age of 30 he may not be the right kind of investment for the long-term.
