Wayne Rooney is on his final warning from Everton boss Ronald Koeman after drink-driving rap
WAYNE ROONEY rolled into last chance saloon at Everton after his public blast from Ronald Koeman.
The forward drove his £100,000 Overfinch Range Rover Sport to Finch Farm for training on Friday as he bids to show his boss he is fit for action.
And his boss' words would have been ringing in his ears after being told to sharpen up his act or face the axe at his boyhood club.
Koeman broke his silence five days after the striker, 31, was charged with drink driving.
But while Koeman made it clear he feels Rooney has let him down, he also revealed the striker is in line to play against Tottenham tomorrow.
In a statement, Koeman said: "Obviously I am very disappointed by this situation regarding Wayne Rooney.
"We have spoken on Tuesday and the chairman Bill Kenwright spoke also to Wayne about this situation.
"In line with any disciplinary matter, this will be dealt with internally at an appropriate time and that is all I have to say about it."
Rooney faces a £320,000 fine, or two weeks' wages, should magistrates find him guilty when he stands before them on September 18.
Club action has been suspended over concerns that administering the disciplinary action now would prejudice the striker's court case.
Rooney met with Koeman on Tuesday and was told in no uncertain terms that he must clean up his act.

The Dutchman underlined that having shown such faith by bringing him back to his spiritual home, he felt betrayed by his behaviour.
But Rooney, who already has two Premier League goals to his name since returning to Goodison from Manchester United this summer, is still set to play against Spurs.
Koeman added: "He will play this Saturday. If I see that Wayne is not in a physical or mental condition to play, then he won't play."
Rooney's court hearing in Stockport is set for the day after Everton travel to Manchester United in the Premier League.
It will be his first return to Old Trafford since rejoining the Toffees, his boyhood club.
He originally left Goodison Park for United in 2002, becoming their all-time record goalscorer.
