Everton 0 Tottenham 3: MATCH HIGHLIGHTS – Harry Kane nets screamer in deadly double to put his August woes firmly behind him as Spurs mercilessly devour Toffees
HARRY KANE scored his 100th Spurs goal to heap further misery on Wayne Rooney.
The striker tipped to inherit Rooney’s England armband struck a speculative effort from way out wide which sailed over the head of Jordan Pickford and dipped under the bar.
It looked for all the world like an over-hit cross but Kane certainly wasn’t complaining as he became only the 17th player in Spurs history to score a century for the club.
And he is already on his way to his double ton after adding his second of the afternoon to bury miserable Everton and the under-fire Rooney.
At just two months beyond his 24th birthday the sky is the limit for a player who is aiming for a third consecutive Golden Boot this season.
If there was an element of luck about Kane’s 28th minute opener, miserable Everton could have no complaints about Spurs’ second scored just before the half-time break.
Cuco Martina made a complete mess of an attempted clearance from Dele Alli’s deep cross, and though Pickford clawed out Ben Davies’ shot, he was powerless to keep out Christian Eriksen’s follow-up.
Booed off at half-time by a furious Goodison crowd, things got even worse immediately after the restart for Ronald Koeman’s men.

Kane’s ball out to Davies was returned with interest into the danger zone, where the Spurs idol was allowed to glide in front of the static Ashley Williams to steer a low shot beyond Pickford.
Rooney, feeling the heat after his recent arrest for drink-driving, was an isolated spectator as his team-mates crumbled with barely a whimper.
His frustration was clear for all to see and he was fortunate to escape a booking for a wild challenge on Kieran Trippier as Spurs strolled to an easy three points.
The only surprise was that Kane was unable to complete his hat-trick, although it took another point-blank save from Pickford to deny him the match ball on an afternoon to forget for the Merseysiders.

WHAT THEY SAID

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said: "It was a fantastic performance. Very solid. We played really well against a very good team that is difficult here at Goodison Park."
