Roo's yellow fever

Wayne Rooney becomes only the second Premier League player to reach 100 yellow cards… but which players make the all-time top ten dirtiest stars?

WAYNE ROONEY has become only the second Premier League player to reach 100 yellow cards after he hacked Dele Alli in frustration on Saturday.

The Everton man, 31, was visibly cross as his team were dismantled 3-0 at home to a Harry Kane-inspired Tottenham.

Rooney saw red and lunged in on Alli... and was shown yellow for his troubles.

The booking became the former Manchester United man's 100th in his Premier League career, becoming only the second player to ever do so.

The other is the evergreen Gareth Barry - now on the books of West Brom - who sits on a staggering 119 yellow cards, to go with six reds.

That's twice as many sendings-off as Merseyside man Roo, on three.

Former Prem enforcers Lee Bowyer and Kevin Davies retired on 99 top-flight yellows, while United legend Paul Scholes earned a whopping 97.

Former Charlton, Chelsea and Fulham man Scott Parker was the only other man to break the 90-barrier, on 92, to go with five reds.

Ex-Leicester man Robbie Savage earned 89 yellows - and surprisingly only one red - while Sunderland's Lee Cattermole is currently poised on 88... with SEVEN dismissals to boot.

Completing the top ten - with 85 cautions apiece - are George Boateng and Kevin Nolan.

Rooney has now been booked in all three of Everton's most recent Premier League games - against Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Despite only being four games into the 2017-18 campaign, the ex-England ace is only two bookings away from a ban.
