NICK POPE was handed an unexpected call-up to the England squad.

The goalkeeper had his first taste of Clarets action when he replaced the injured Tom Heaton in the opening period of the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace in September.

He kept a clean sheet against the Eagles, and has kept his place in the Clarets first team ever since.

Nick Pope is a professional footballer and plays as a goalkeeper - and is NOT the famed UFO spotter.

He currently plays for Premier League Burnley.

They signed him from Charlton Athletic in July 2016.

How old is Nick Pope and where was he born?

The goalie was born on April 19, 1992.

He was born in the town of Soham in Cambridgeshire.

Which football teams has Nick Pope played for?

Nick Pope was in Ipswich Town's academy before leaving to join non-league Bury Town in 2008.

After three years he was spotted by Charlton.

He enjoyed a number of loan spells with Harrow Borough, Welling United, Cambridge United, Aldershot Town, York City and Bury.

Pope played 33 times for Charlton before joining Burnley on a three-year contract in July 2016.
