Liverpool striker Danny Ings suffers another injury during game for the U23s
The striker has had two seasons cut short with knee injuries and fans are now concerned that his return to first-team football could be delayed following today's early exit
LIVERPOOL suffered another blow this weekend as Danny Ings went off injured during the U23 game against Manchester City.
Just after the half-hour mark Ings was seen hovering by the touchline, waiting to be replaced, having been on the receiving end of several heavy challenges.
Ings has had a spell away from the first team after suffering several serious injuries and has been building up his fitness with the U23 squad.
During his appearance in the game against City Ings created several chances, which is only likely to frustrate Liverpool fans further who are eager for him to return to first-team football.
Twitter was awash with well wishers hoping that Ings leaving the pitch was a precautionary measure, rather than as a result of suffering another serious injury.
Last season, the 25-year-old striker suffered a second knee injury that cut his season short after making his comeback just two games earlier.
Ings joined Liverpool in 2015 from Burnley but has suffered with numerous knee injuries, requiring surgery, that have prevented him from reaching his potential under Jurgen Klopp.
He has remained upbeat in the face of adversity, saying that he craves patience rather than pity and has spent the summer undergoing rehabilitation.

Ings had spoken openly about watching and learning from other Liverpool players in a bid to get back to the player he was, if not better.
The Reds will be hoping the player is fit to make his first team come back, but today's injury could delay the forward's return.
