Liverpool haven't won silverware since 2012 when they won the league cup and have not had their hands on the Champions League trophy since 2005, which was as a result of the infamous 'Miracle of Istanbul'.

But Garcia is adamant that this has to be the season that Klopp wins trophies, he said: "He has been at the club almost two years. I think he is doing a good job.

"He has brought in some of the players he wanted, now is the time for him to show the team is ready to face everything."

Klopp is well known on the European circuit having reached the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, but he must continue to focus his squad who received a thrashing at the hands of Manchester City in the Premier League.

Garcia is confident that some of the performances that Liverpool have delivered demonstrates that they are capable of winning the Champions League for a sixth time.

He is no stranger to European football, having scored the infamous 'ghost goal' that knocked out Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side.

But he added that when Liverpool reached the final in 2005 everyone was surprised, he said: "When I was here, no one in Europe knew too much about us.

"Everyone was surprised, but I think the team now is a lot better than back then."
