‘No charisma or personality’ Joey Barton blasts new Crystal Palace and ex-England boss Roy Hodgson
Joey Barton has not pulled any punches in his criticism of Roy Hodgson and does not believe he is the right man to save Palace's season
CRYSTAL PALACE are currently without a manager after parting company with Frank de Boer, but outspoken Joey Barton has criticised his potential successor.
Former England manager, Roy Hodgson, is currently favourite to take the reigns at Selhurst Park after the axing of De Boer, but Barton slammed his managerial style and personality.
The last managerial post Hodgson held was England manager and he has not worked since, but as Sunsport previously reported, the 70-year-old has already indicated he wanted the Palace job.
But Barton isn't convinced he's the right man to pull Palace out of their current slump in 19th position, in the Premier League, he said: "He's just got no charisma, no personality at all."
Fans will remember Hodgson's role as England manager where he led the Lions to an early exit from Euro 2016, Barton was keen to remind fans of this performance.
Talking to TALKSPORT he said: "Did you see him at the back end of that England campaign?"
Barton pulled no punches when he said: "He just looked like he needed to be taken out into the back garden and have someone pull the trigger on him."
Hodgson won't find the South London club totally alien, as he was a youth player at Palace but never played in the first team.
Palace's response to their tumultous start to the season was to remove De Boer after just 77 days.
Joey Barton tweeted his sympathties regarding the sacking of Frank de Boer after just four games in charge, but hasn't been so kind about Hodgson taking over.
