Diego Costa set to complete £54m switch from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid today after talks are stepped up
DIEGO COSTA could finally end his Chelsea nightmare and seal his return to Atletico Madrid TODAY, according to reports.
The Spanish international has been frozen out by Blues boss Antonio Conte since the end of last season and has been in his native Brazil ever since.
Marca are now reporting that he may now have an escape route from Stamford Bridge with Atletico agreeing a £54million fee for the controversial striker.
Costa would move in January when the Spanish club's transfer ban has been lifted and will put an end to the long-running feud between the attacker and the Blues.
Those closest to the 28-year-old are now in the Spanish capital instead of his base in Oxshott, Surrey.
Costa’s house is near the Blues’ training ground, where he was expected to report back after his summer holidays in Brazil.
But Costa refused to return despite being included in their Premier League squad.

The former Braga star has refused to come back and clean out his locker but could have to if he wants to complete the move.
Conte told Costa he was not in his plans during showdown talks in January, then told him again via text during the summer.
Costa has been linked with a loan move to Fenerbahce until Atletico's transfer ban ends in January.
When asked about the wantway striker last week, Conte said: "[There is] no news on him.
"My focus is on the Premier League, not Turkey.
