Chelsea star N’Golo Kante is delighted to be reunited with Danny Drinkwater and dreams of bettering their Leicester glory

Blues anchorman hails his fellow midfielder's £35m arrival at Stamford Bridge and hopes for another 'special year' together

N’GOLO KANTE is dreaming of an even better partnership with Danny Drinkwater at Chelsea than the duo’s tittle-winning heroics at Leicester.

Frenchman Kante followed up the Foxes’ 5000-1 Premier League crown two seasons ago with Chelsea’s title joy last term.

And he is delighted fellow midfielder Drinkwater, a £35million deadline-day buy, has made the same switch.

Goal.com report Kante, 26, as saying: "I am pleased for him to come into Chelsea.

"I hope it could be something like Leicester or even more, I hope.

"We did a special year together in Leicester to win the league. It wasn’t expected and I really enjoyed the season that I spent with him.

“I am happy that he chose to join Chelsea and I am happy to play with him again."

Drinkwater, 27, capped three times by England, is still awaiting his Blues’ debut.

He was left on the bench as Chelsea notched a 2-1 victory at his old club last Saturday, when Kante fired home a 35-yard screamer

And a calf injury kept Drinkwater out of Tuesday’s 6-0 romp at home to Qarabag in the Blues’ Champions League group opener.

Such a night in Europe’s top competition was one reason Kante chose to move from the King Power Stadium to Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old said: "It was something that I used to watch when I was young and to play now with Chelsea is special.

“We did well last season and now we have to play in the Champions League. We will fight to do well in all the competitions."
