Lindegaard was freed by West Brom last year without playing and was then released this summer by Preston after 22 appearances.

Heaton, 31, faces four months out despite successful surgery on Wednesday - three days after his injury in last Sunday's 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Ex-Charlton star Nick Pope came on to replace him at Turf Moor after just 36 minutes and is tipped to keep his place.

But Lindegaard would provide reassuring experience, even though he played just 29 times for United during his five years at Old Trafford.

And he is a free agent after being released by Preston, so Dyche would seemingly have little to lose if he offered Lindegaard a short-term deal

Burnley's other keeper is Adam Legzdins, 30, who finished last term as Birmingham's THIRD-CHOICE stopper.

And Dyche will want to to have back-up sorted in time for Saturday's visit to free-scoring Liverpool.

He wants three senior keepers, meaning signing Lindegaard this week would be no surprise.

Dyche, though will be happy with Burnley's start so far - as they sit seventh with seven points from four games.

That is one place better than Jurgen Klopp's Reds, who have similarly opened with two wins, a draw and a defeat.
