Jose Mourinho upset with Ander Herrera after inviting pal with links to Celta Vigo to Manchester United training ground before their clash
ANDER HERRERA'S relationship with Jose Mourinho has taken a knock since he was hauled in to see the manager over a training-ground gaffe last season, it has been claimed.
Herrera had long been regarded as one of the Manchester United manager's favourite players and the pair enjoyed plenty of close conversations.
But the Mail claim the pair have been more distant ever since the midfielder was given a dressing down for inviting a pal with close ties to Celta Vigo to the club's Aon Training Complex last season.
United were preparing for their Europa League semi-final against the Spanish side when Herrera thought nothing of inviting his friend over to Carrington to see him.
But Mourinho spotted the visitor and recognised his links to their rivals, and ordered Herrera into his office to give him a telling off.
Herrara, who's dad used to play for Celta and then went on to become their sporting director, was left in no doubt Mourinho was not happy with his actions - even though there were no malicious motives in his invitation.
And the claim to have an insider who says the incident has soured the once-close relationship between player and manager.
The source said: "We used to joke that he was Jose's golden boy, and they were always chatting about the game.

"But the dynamic has changed since the end of last season. It's not the same."
Though the relationship may be different, it has not soured it enough for Mourinho to not trust Herrera to perform in the first team.
And the injury suffered by Paul Pogba in the Champions League win over Basel this week will give the Spaniard a chance of more starts.
United are likely to be without Pogba for six weeks with Mourinho unhappy his French star had ignored club advice by training on his own.
That leaves Herrera and Michael Carrick as the two fighting it out to come into the side in his absence for this week's clash with Everton.
