Chelsea are a like a boxer that takes too many shots before waking up, now we need to KO Arsenal
ARSENE WENGER’S enigmatic Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge this Sunday afternoon looking to take on a revitalised Chelsea who, despite the opening season defeat, seem to have already set their steamroller in motion.
Like a boxer who needs to take a few choice shots to the face to wake up, before turning the match in his favour, it seems defeat to Chelsea acts in a similar vein.
Last season after losing two out of three games we went on a record equalling league winning streak of 13 matches, broken by a League Cup defeat which only seemed to add more momentum to the league campaign.
The next time we lost wasn’t until January and the reaction to that saw us go 12 matches unbeaten, winning 10 of them until again we again finally succumbed to defeat, only to go on and win nine out of our last ten games.
Losing to Burnley may have actually done us a favour! Anyone who watched knows we beat ourselves more than anything that match, but again this season so far the reaction has been spot on as four wins on the bounce shows.
The most recent of those being the mid-week Champions League match against Qarabag with a ‘weakened’ starting line-up was a potential banana skin, yet they were dispatched with ruthless efficiency as the 6-0 score line shows.
Arsenal travel across London hot on the heels of their late night Europa League victory against FC Koln, although despite the victory all is not well in the Wenger camp and right now we’re probably the last team he’d want to play right now.
Although the wily Frenchman got one over on us in the Community Shield, results since then have been less than spectacular with recent defeats to Stoke and Liverpool meaning Arsenal fans are on his back earlier in the season than usual.

With unhappy players in the camp, others approaching the end of their deals and not looking like renewing, and those that are there for the long hall not being of a quality I remember Arsenal being, all is not well at the Emirates.
Chelsea however, despite the many words written about troubles in the ranks, transfer failings and a million and one other angles that may appear problematic, seem now to be in their groove.
Conte has handled the squad brilliantly so far, and I include Diego Costa in that too. Any time Costa is raised as a question the charming Italian waves it away with a smile and moves on.
The squad seems balanced and all on the same page as the recent results show, the team has performed no matter who’s playing as the recent introductions of Zappacosta, Bakayoko, Rudiger & Christensen show.
Quite a change in fortunes for both sides since the beginning of the season, where we have gone from strength to strength and the negative stories have faded, Arsenal seem to just lurch from one disaster to another.
Sunday could see it get a lot worse for Arsenal, and a lot better for Chelsea. We’ve started a tough September run perfectly, now we just need to steamroller through the rest of it.
