Barcelona to pay Manchester City £700,000 after Denis Suarez played against Getafe as part of arrangement over 2013 transfer

Catalans paid initial £1.5million and will continue to part with £700k every time Spanish midfielder plays ten games

BARCELONA have had to pay Manchester City an extra £700,000 after Denis Suarez played against Getafe, according to reports in Catalonia.

The 23-year-old was making his 40th first team appearance for the club.

Mundo Deportivo report Barca paid an initial £1.5million fee — and agreed City will receive £700,000 instalments for every team games he plays for the club until he reaches his century.

It means price for the former Spain Under-21 international could rise to a total of £8.5m.

Barcelona signed Suarez from City in 2013 but he failed to make a first team appearance and was shipped out to Sevilla on loan after a season with the club's B team — and then sold onto Villarreal.

However, the Catalans included a £2.85m buy-out clause, which they activated after 12 months.

Suarez scored Barca's equaliser against  Getafe as they came from 1-0 down to maintain their 100 per cent start to the La Liga season.

Summer arrival Paulinho netted the winner for the Catalans as they conceded their first goal of the season.

The result means Barcelona stay top — and seven points clear of Real Madrid.

Los Blancos travel to Real Sociedad this evening.
