Silva signed for the Foxes in a late night deadline night move from Sporting.

But the £22million Portugal international’s move was put on ice when FIFA received the paperwork 14 seconds too late after Leicester were granted a two hour extension.

Foxes bosses are working towards finding a solution.

But at the moment Silva, 28, is in limbo.

And Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare said the player had returned home ahead of Tuesday night's Carabao Cup tie with Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.

Shakespeare explained: “The conversations I’ve had with Adrien so far are very brief.

“He’s an expecting father so he spent a bit of time with his family at the weekend.

Silva’s wife Margarida Neuparth says she and her husband are relaxed about the delay.

She  said: “We are still waiting for an answer, but we are calm, we are a very close family. We don’t fear anything.”
