Everton star Wayne Rooney’s drink-driving ban could cost him a whopping £500,000
WAYNE ROONEY’S two-year drink-drive ban could end up costing him nearly £500,000.
The striker was fined two weeks’ wages - totalling £320,000 - by Everton for the offence - the former England skipper was also given a 12-month community order and 100 hours community service at court on Monday.
Now he faces a £120,000 bill for using a chauffeur to take him on the 74-mile round rip from his £20million mansion to Everton’s Finch Farm training ground at least four times a week.
He will also likely need wheels to be able to fulfil his 100 hours of community service - dished out to him yesterday as he was found guilty of driving while nearly three times over the limit earlier this month.
The Toffees have no intention of paying a penny to help Roo, 31, get to and from work.
He is understood to have apologised to boss Ronald Koeman and will be in the squad for tomorrow’s Carabao Cup tie with Sunderland.

Rooney was caught drink-driving Laura Simpson's VW Beetle after a boozy night out in Cheshire.
Rooney had a breathalyser reading of 104 micrograms – the legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100ml of breath.
And the incident has led to speculation that he could divorce from his wife Coleen Rooney.
The 31-year-old will now be unable to drive his fleet of impressive cars including his BMW i8, Audi Q7 and Bentley GT.
The court was told: “Wayne wishes to express his genuine remorse for this terrible error of judgement that evening.
“He’s let not only himself down but his family down. He acknowledges he has let his fans down.”
A statement from Rooney later apologised to Everton, the fans and the public.
He said: “Following today’s court hearing I want publicly to apologise for my unforgivable lack of judgment in driving while over the legal limit.
“It was completely wrong.
“I have already said sorry to my family, my manager and chairman and everyone at Everton FC.
“Now I want to apologise to all the fans and everyone else who has followed and supported me throughout my career.
“Of course I accept the sentence of the court and hope that I can make some amends through my community service.”
