Manchester United’s Class of 92 unveil bold plans to open a brand new university near Old Trafford offering variety of courses
MANCHESTER UNITED’S famous Class of 92 are set to open a UNIVERSITY in 2019.
Gary Neville, his brother Phil, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have unveiled plans for a new complex in Trafford called UA92 (University Academy 92).
It will off a wide variety of degrees to help students “enhance life skills as well as employability”, and is supported by Lancaster University and Trafford council.
UA92 will open in two years’ time, and founder Gary Neville hopes it will allow those attending to “maintain a healthy body and mind”.
He said: “There should be no limits to what you can achieve with the right preparation.
“Our aim is that UA92 graduates would leave with an academic qualification, of course, but also with a range of other skills such as how to deal with pressure, understand finance, leadership and presentational skills.
“And also how to maintain a healthy body and mind. In other words, the complete package you need to succeed in the workplace.”
Trafford council are hoping the new university will bring an extra 6,500 students by 2028, with Manchester United and Lancashire county cricket club also throwing their weight behind the project.

The Department of Education approved of Neville’s plan, saying it showed “how academia and business can collaborate to create a ground-breaking new model of higher education.”
Meanwhile, Lancaster University’s vice-chancellor Prof Mark E Smith added: “This project is designed to address both of those ideas (higher education and working life) head on.”
