Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko involved in car crash on his way home from Cobham training centre

CHELSEA star Tiemoue Bakayoko has been involved in a car crash on his way home from training today, The Sun can reveal.

The 23-year-old, who signed for the Blues from Monaco this summer, was driving along Blundel Lane near their Cobham facility at around 3.30pm when the incident happened.

Police were called to the scene this afternoon, after the French international was travelling towards Oxshott, Surrey, when the incident happened.

It is understood nobody else was involved, but his brother Namory recently sparked fears that an incident could happen, claiming he is putting off driving in England.

He said: "Tiemoue told me he wasn't allowing himself to drive because he thinks it’s too crazy driving on the left! But he’ll get round to it."

The Sun understands that Bakayoko had a minor accident, but he did not suffer any significant injuries, and he is now back at home resting.

Chelsea paid Monaco £40million for Bakayoko close to transfer deadline day, handing him a five-year contract.

Bakayoko was one of Antonio Conte’s top transfer targets all summer and the Italian was understandably delighted to have landed his man.

However, the 23-year-old opted to pen a deal at Stamford Bridge, and has started three games in all competitions, scoring once.

It isn't the first time this season that there has been a car accident involving the Blues.
