Threesy does it

Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial could form the new MSN

The Red Devils have the most vibrant and exciting set of attackers we’ve seen since Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov were in their pomp

MANCHESTER UNITED have scored 16 goals in five Premier League games this season and put four goals past the opposition on four separate occasions already in just seven fixtures.

Louis van Gaal’s United only managed to score four goals on four occasions in two years - that’s how good we are playing at the moment.

There are certainly no cries of ‘Attack, Attack, Attack’ from fans this season.

And the goals are not just coming from one player.

Right now, United have the most vibrant and exciting set of attackers we’ve seen since the 2007-08 double-winning side which boasted Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov in their pomp.

Goals were a problem last season where we drew blank on so many occasion, that's not going to be an issue this year.

Romelu Lukaku has five goals in his first five Premier League starts, Marcus Rashford is on five goals in all competitions and Anthony Martial has four.

Once upon a time Barcelona had Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez - could Lukaku, Rashford and Martial end up becoming our own triumvirate of world class attackers? The potential is there.

Rashford and Martial started together for the first time this season in the 4-1 win over Burton and they were absolutely mesmerising.

Rashford was clinical in his instinctive finishing, his runs were intelligent and his movement made him unplayable.

Former striker Ian Wright selects his top picks for the weekend.

As for Martial, I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

A confident Martial in full flow is one of the world’s best young talents and we saw all of that on Wednesday night; trickery, dribbling, passing, runs, shots - he had it all. Yes, it may have been Burton and not a Real Madrid level opponent but it was still wonderful to watch.

Most United fans would love to see Rashford, Martial and Lukaku all start together and I’m sure we will at some point this season because together they could be one of the most unplayable attacking trios in the Premier League.

As much as it gripes me to say, Liverpool’s front three are, for me, one of the best in the league at the moment.

Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are frighteningly unpredictable in their movement and with so much pace defenders struggle to contain them.

However, I think Rashford, Martial and Lukaku can be even better.

Lukaku’s already shown himself as a clinical finisher but we’re not dependent on him for just goals.

Martial can score, Rashford can score and that’s not even including Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard - not to mention Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

United have so many options and it’s a very exciting time for fans.

Ask any United fan what their favourite type of football is and most will say counter-attacking with pace.

That’s what United did so well under Sir Alex and with the players we’ve not got we’re so capable of becoming that force in attack again.

Lukaku, Rashford and Martial all bursting away on the counter-attack? There is no defence in the world that would be able to stop them getting in behind and creating chances.

Jose Mourinho has got a wealth of attacking options this season and we’re likely to see plenty of tinkering as the campaign progresses.

At some point we will get to see Lukaku, Rashford and Martial start a game together - and I can’t wait to see what happens.
