Edwin van der Sar claims Manchester City and United are taking the Premier League by storm in 2017-18… but reserves special praise for Pep Guardiola
EDWIN VAN DER SAR has claimed Manchester City and Manchester United are taking the Premier League by storm... but has reserved special praise for Pep Guardiola.
The ex-Old Trafford stopper, 46, is currently chief executive at Eredivisie giants Ajax - but has been keeping a close eye on the English top flight.
Dutch star Van der Sar has been particularly impressed by his former employers United, but reserved special praise for City boss Guardiola.
Van der Sar said: “City and United have both taken the lead in the Premier League, they are dominating.
“Because of my past, I am always looking at what is going on in football in Manchester and, obviously, I have more to do with the Reds than the Blues.
“But I recently saw what Pep’s team is capable of at European level, when he played in the Netherlands.
“They have both made enormous investments again and that makes the difference.
“With one club, the investments are being done on a commercial basis, the other club have had a bit of help in different ways.”
