Arsenal transfer news: Arsene Wenger scouts Schalke’s German international star Leon Goretzka ahead of January swoop
ARSENAL are reportedly stepping-up their interest in Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.
The 22-year-old is on the wishlist of a number of Europe's biggest clubs.
And the Mirror are claiming that Arsene Wenger is among them - and he has sent his top scouts to monitor his performances.
The German midfielder is out of contract at Schalke next summer.
Goretzka is not believed to be wanting to stay with the Bundesliga side and will not agree an extension.
That has alerted several teams from around the continent.
But Arsenal appear to be trying to push ahead of their rivals with Wenger's talent spotters attending the star's last few matches.
They are compiling a dossier on the strong-runner which they will hand back to the Emirates chief so he can decide whether and when to make a move.
