Former Manchester United star Gabriel Heinze in line to take over as manager of San Lorenzo
GABRIEL HEINZE is set to become the latest ex-Manchester United player to step into management.
The former Old Trafford left back is being lined up to become the new boss of San Lorenzo in Argentina, according to reports.
United have a strong track record of former stars, particularly those who played under Sir Alex Ferguson, trying their hand at management - with varying degrees of success.
Steve Bruce is in charge at Aston Villa, Mark Hughes is currently at Stoke, while Roy Keane had stints at Sunderland and Ipswich, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is boss at Molde and Jaap Stam is boss at Reading.
Gary Neville England assistant manager under Roy Hodgson, while Ryan Giggs also worked as a No2 under Louis van Gaal after a stint as caretaker manager.
Meanwhile Heinze, 39, has finished playing after a career that saw him play for Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
He fell out with United fans after allegedly trying to engineer a move to arch rivals Liverpool in 2007 - and he ended up being sold to the Bernabeu instead.
Heinze was replaced as United left back Patrice Evra, who went on to become one of the best full backs in the world.

San Lorenzo coach Diego Aguirre resigned after the club were beaten in the quarter finals of the Copa Libertadores and according to El Grafico, he is in the frame for the job.
'Santo' were beaten on penalties by their Primera Division rivals Lanus on penalties.
Heinze recently earned praise for his stewardship of Argentinos Juniors after he got them promoted back to Argentina's top tier, the Primera Division.
