Chelsea vs Manchester City: Sergio Aguero is a big miss but I’d be astounded if visitors don’t score twice today

Pep Guardiola has a devastating attack without his top scorer in Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling

TODAY sees undoubtedly the biggest game of the season so far and one that could potentially be the first twist in this season’s three-horse race for the Premier League title.

Manchester City’s form has been unbelievable and it’s hard to see that changing at Stamford Bridge.

The sheer momentum surrounding the team is producing results on it’s own and I’d genuinely be astounded if City don’t score more than once this weekend.

Even after a tough first half at home to Shakhtar Donetsk, there simply seems to be self-belief in every player that a winning goal is a matter of when, not if.

Sergio Aguero’s Amsterdam car crash is a game changer and it’s easy to panic.

Many will be asking, ‘Where will the goals will come from?’ Fortunately, that’s a multiple choice question.

Gabriel Jesus has settled in beautifully to Manchester life, Leroy Sane is reminiscent of a young Gareth Bale and with six goals in eight games this season, Raheem Sterling has clearly added finishing to his game over the summer.

Even without Aguero, a pacey front three like that is more than enough to give the likes of Gary Cahill a rough afternoon.

Surely then, I’ll be putting my feet up and relaxing, safe in the knowledge that three points are on their way back to Manchester? Of course not.

The problem here is that I imagine Chelsea fans will probably be feeling pretty good about their chances this weekend too.

⚽ Ian Wright's Premier League Tips ⚽

Former striker Ian Wright selects his top tips for Saturday's action.

"Romelu Lukaku has started exactly as you’d want a £75m signing to start.

"Not only has he scored a load of goals but he’s also silenced those questioning his link-up play and the first touch.

"He’s the only player in my mind when it comes to the first goalscorer market - and I fancy United to get loads againsrt Crystal Palace."

They’ll surely be bouncing after a late win in Madrid on Wednesday and will point to the possible return of Eden Hazard as a good omen.

Alvaro Morata has scored ten goals in ten games for club and country and will threaten a City back line that will have to go without Ben Mendy and Vincent Kompany.

No matter how well City have started, Chelsea will be the biggest challenge yet.

It’s important to remember that the Blues were the only side to beat Manchester City home and away last season and after all, in-form or not, Pep Guardiola has never beaten a Chelsea side over 90 minutes.

That will surely be enough to encourage Antonio Conte's men to kick on and they will feel more than confident they will come out on top.

It’s this optimism on both sides that makes this game so exciting.

Top of the table clashes can often be dull at this stage in the season, but when both sides feel it’s the perfect time to play each other, those are the games that stay long in the memory.

I’ve a feeling this game will be the talking point of the weekend and both side’s attacking capabilities to shine through. I’ll go 2-2.
