Ex-Manchester United prodigy Adnan Januzaj facing ‘indefinite period’ on sidelines following knee injury, Real Sociedad confirm
Belgian is looking to turn his career around in Spain, but appears to have been dealt massive blow with new injury
ADNAN JANUZAJ is facing an "indefinite period" on the sidelines, Real Sociedad have confirmed.
The Belgian, 22, is looking to turn his career around having joined from Manchester United for £8million in the summer.
But he could be set for a lengthy spell out after just four appearances for the La Liga side.
The club confirmed he felt severe pain in his knee following the 3-1 defeat at Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League — and scans show there could be a serious problem.
An official statement read: "Adnan Januzaj completed the match against Zenit St. Peterbursburg without any complaints or apparent trauma, but an hour later began feeling intense pain in his right knee.
"The MRI scan taken yesterday showed a moderate articular effusion, which may be relation to previous meniscus operation.
"The initial plan will be to rest and undergo mild physiotherapy.
"His return to action will be progressive and will depend on how his recovery improves."

Januzaj became a United regular when he burst onto the scene as a teenage under David Moyes.
However, he suffered a dramatic loss in form and confidence and never reached those heights again.
He was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland before being sold on to Real Sociedad indefinitely.

"Romelu Lukaku has started exactly as you’d want a £75m signing to start.
"Not only has he scored a load of goals but he’s also silenced those questioning his link-up play and the first touch.
"He’s the only player in my mind when it comes to the first goalscorer market - and I fancy United to get loads against Crystal Palace."
