Arsenal trained without Laurent Koscielny ahead of their Premier League clash with Brighton on Sunday

Arsene Wenger could be without the French stalwart when they welcome the Seagulls to the Emirates Stadium

ARSENAL could be without star defender Laurent Koscielny for Sunday's clash against Brighton.

The 32-year-old was a notable absentee from London Colney on Saturday afternoon as he battles an Achilles problem.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed on Friday the French international is a doubt to face the Seagulls at the Emirates Stadium.

He said: "We have a doubt about Laurent Koscielny unfortunately and he will have a test tomorrow.

"It’s an Achilles problem, it’s ongoing.”

Koscielny featured in the full 90 minutes as Arsenal beat West Brom 2-0 last Monday, but wasn't included in the squad that beat BATE Borisov 4-2 in the Europa League on Thursday.

But it appears as though he hasn't been given the green light by club doctors, and could be rested to avoid further injury.

Shkodran Mustafi, Per Mertesacker and Nacho Monreal could start as the three centre-backs for Wenger, with Rob Holding another viable option.

Meanwhile, defensive powerhouse Sead Kolasinac took part in training today, after Wenger revealed he was struggling.

He has taken to life in England seamlessly since his summer switch from Schalke - scoring twice in seven fixtures.

Youngsters Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Eddie Nketiah joined experienced heads such as Olivier Giroud and Mathieu Debuchy - though you can be sure the latter won't be involved on Sunday.

Giroud - who turned 31 today - recently netted his 100th goal for the FA Cup champions midweek, but is likely to settle for a place on the bench as he plays second fiddle to Alexandre Lacazette.

One player who will play no part against Brighton is Mesut Ozil - the German playmaker is suffering from a slight knee niggle.

Danny Welbeck, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin remain on the sidelines.
