Alvaro Morata limps off during Chelsea’s home clash against Manchester City in huge blow for Antonio Conte
CHELSEA have been dealt a huge injury blow as Alvaro Morata limped off against Manchester City.
The in-form Spanish striker looked to have suffered a hamstring injury in the Premier League clash.
He was replaced in the 34th minute by Willian, with Chelsea having no recognised striker on the pitch.
Blues boss Antonio Conte appeared to give instructions to Eden Hazard to push further up the pitch, and the Belgian looked as though he was playing the "false nine" position.
The scores were level at the time Morata went off, but the injury could prove a major pain for Conte.
Chelsea have only just flogged Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid, and the management seem reluctant to lead with Michy Batshuayi up top.
Morata has scored seven goals in eight games for Chelsea this season, following a £65million move from Real Madrid.
With many saying he might struggle to adapt to the English game, Morata has taken to it like the proverbial duck to water.
And with him being the focal point of the way Chelsea have set up this season to defend their title, boss Conte will be hoping it's more a strain than anything else.
The summer transfer window was one the craziest we have ever seen.
