But impressive performances against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup and Bate Borisov in the Europa League have convinced Arsene Wenger to include him in his future plans, according to the Sunday People.

The Frenchman is said to have held talks with Wishere, 25, to assure him he has a future at the Emirates.

And Arsenal reportedly hope they can reach a deal with the player, who joined the North London club when he was nine, by the end of the year.

The report claims Wenger, who signed a new two-year deal himself in May, has always believed Wilshere has what it takes to force his way into his first-team plans.

Wilshere is in the final year of his £90,000-a-week contract and in no rush to open negotiations for a new deal.

But he insists his future remains Arsenal.
