Tottenham to punish fans appearing to target Chelsea star Marcos Alonso with flag over car-crash death
TOTTENHAM will punish the fan who allegedly made a banner referring to the young girl Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso killed in a drunken 2011 car crash.
The Spaniard escaped four years in prison but was fined just over £50,000 and banned from driving after being found guilty – as a 20-year-old Bolton player – of being over the legal alcohol limit and speeding in Madrid.
And supposed Spurs fans apparently tried to taunt the defender with a specially made flag on their away trip to Huddersfield.
Sandwiched around the symbol for "no alcohol" and an image of a car, were the words "Marcos Alonso he murdered a girl".
A picture of the sign – appearing to be held aloft by at least two men - was spread on Twitter but was later deleted.
And Tottenham told the Times that they will not tolerate their supporters creating flags in such poor taste.
A club spokesman said: “This banner is clearly in extremely poor taste and we are investigating the matter.
“If found to be a Spurs fan, they will be dealt with accordingly.”

There is nothing illegal about the sign, however Tottenham reserve the right to refuse entrance to fans and could impose their own ban on anyone found to be involved.
