Argentina team doctor Donato Villani said Aguero was desperate to join the Albiceleste

SERGIO AGUERO is "in a very bad way", according to the Argentina national team doctor.

Donato Villani has spent the last few days in Manchester with the City star, who broke a rib after his taxi crashed into a lamp-post in Amsterdam last week.

Aguero, 29, had been in the Dutch capital to see Colombian pop star Maluma in concert.

Villani was with Aguero to check on him and give a report to Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli.

Aguero, who will miss World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Ecuador, is expected to miss between four and six weeks for Pep Guardiola's Premier League leaders.

Villani, who has been the team doctor for more than a decade, said Aguero is having a tough time of it.

He told the Argentine press: "Sergio is in a very bad way emotionally, as he was very eager to come over and play for the national side.

"He can't move around his house, or get in and out of a car.

"The truth is that he feels very bad, as he wanted to be with us.

"He was not at all to blame for the accident, but it has put him out of our two qualifiers.

"He won't be able to play for a month and a half."

Aguero, who has already missed Manchester City's win over Chelsea, isn't expected back for a while.

Speaking last week the striker said: "The taxi I was riding made a wrong turn and crashed against a pole.

"It was a very heavy slam but seatbelts prevented it from being worse."

He added: "Thank you with all my heart for the supportive messages, they really do help me in recovering.

"I’d like to thank the staff of the VU University Medical Amsterdam for their care and support. Hats off to all their team.

"I’m home in Manchester after an exam by club Drs. It’s a broken rib.

"Hurts, but I’m fine, fully focused on recovery. Thank you all!"

However, his father Leonel Del Castillo hit out at the driver for speeding.

"Everything was going fine until the accident happened while he was going to the airport.

"He told me that that the taxi driver was going very fast and, for this reason, he was forced to put on his seat belt.

"He was with a kid who works for the company which represents him and told him to ask the chauffeur to slow down as there was no rush — and the driver responded 'OK'.

"I saw the images and the truth is, we need to thank God, because it could have been far worse.

"Tragedies are like this, when it's your turn, it's your turn."
