And his call-up to Gareth Southgate’s senior England team for the World Cup qualifiers means he’s spelling out a bright future for himself.

Last night a source revealed: “Harry is a very down-to-earth lad and he tries to keep himself grounded and loves his board games.

"They are nice distraction to always being glued to social media.

“He is a model professional – looks after his body well and his mind.

"He gets loads of stick because he likes playing Scrabble and always brings the game with him on trips to away matches and on tours.

“Lots of the lads give him stick because of it but by the end of the journey he’s usually collared one or two to play with him.”

His love Scrabble was first unmasked by former Tottenham team-mate Tom Carroll when Harry was snapped with his beloved game on a pre-season tour to the States in 2015.

Tom - now with Swansea – uploaded a snap of Harry posing with a full-size version of the game and wrote: “Can't believe @harrywinks_ brought scrabble with him for the flight to Denver.”

Baby-faced Winks only made his U21 debut last November, almost a year later he has been selected for the senior squad.

Winks has featured seven times for Spurs this season, mainly as a substitute.

Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino both rate the young midfielder, with Kane even tipping the youngster for the England squad.

Pochettino has called the midfielder 'perfect', while Kane said: "Winks is a great player. On the ball, technically he's fantastic."
