Manchester City plotting £20million January swoop for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez
Chilean forward is out of contract in the summer, with Pep Guardiola looking to take advantage with a bargain winter deal
MANCHESTER CITY are plotting an audacious £20million January swoop for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean forward, 28, is out of contract in the summer, with Pep Guardiola looking to take advantage with a bargain deal this winter.
Gunners star Sanchez would be available for free in July, with pre-contract negotiations allowed to start in January.
But Guardiola appears willing to take a low-ball punt at landing Sanchez six months early in their bid to beat neighbours Manchester United to the Premier League title.
The potential deal could prompt AC Milan to renew their interest in Sergio Aguero.
The Argentine forward, currently out with a broken rib sustained in a car crash in Amsterdam, has reportedly been told he can leave by Guardiola.
Aguero has been in good form, having scored seven times in just eight games for Man City this season.
His hot start has seen him sit on the cusp of breaking Erik Brook's record of 177 goals for the Eastlands club.
Meanwhile, Sanchez is famously keen to get out of the Emirates after they failed to qualify for this year's Champions League.
Neither the Chilean nor Mesut Ozil look set to pen new contracts at the club before they are available for nothing in the summer.

City boss Guardiola had been chasing Sanchez all summer, but a deal was never struck.
Arsene Wenger had hoped to receive Raheem Sterling from City as part of the deal, but Guardiola refused to let the English winger leave.
It's a move that appears completely justified after Sterling has scored five times in the Premier League already, in just six games.
Sanchez is also a target for French giants PSG, with Edinson Cavani set to leave following a spat with new-arrival Neymar.
