Kante's injury is a huge blow for Chelsea with the Frenchman critical to their midfield.

And the injury comes at a busy time for the Blues with six games between next weekend and the end of October.

Chelsea visit Crystal Palace next in the Premier League on Saturday before facing Roma in the Champions League.

There was another Premier League injury blow, too with Marouane Fellaini forced off for Belgium.

Fellaini had to be substituted in the 29th minute at the Grbavica Stadium in a Group H World Cup qualifier against Bosnia.

The ex-Everton ace was replaced by Leander Dendoncker in the middle of the park after receiving treatment on his knee.

And to make matters worse for Belgium boss Roberto Martinez, just 40 seconds after he left the field, Haris Medunjanin equalised for the home side.
