Manchester United transfer news: Marcus Rashford in line for massive pay rise at Red Devils as he approaches 20th birthday

The 19-year-old - who has already netted five times this season - is on around £50,000-a-week before bonuses at Old Trafford

MARCUS RASHFORD is in line for a pay boost when he celebrates turning 20 at the end of this month.

The United striker’s meteoric rise means he is still on the lower end of the Old Trafford pay scale, on around £50,000-a-week before bonuses.

Under the terms of the deal he signed early last year, the England rookie also has a number of milestone and incremental clauses in the agreement.

Manager Mourinho was determined to keep Rashford’s feet on the ground, rather than throw big money at him too soon.

But now the striker can expect a pay hike in his basic salary, rather than being linked in to bonuses, although both sides have yet to discuss exact figures.

England forward Rashford has shone this season, scoring five goals in all competitions and nailing down a starting position in Mourinho’s side.

United have enjoyed a blistering start to the season, scoring 21 goals in seven Premier League games and only dropping points in the draw at Stoke.

Jose Mourinho's men face rivals Liverpool next Saturday in their first game after the international break.

Marouane Fellaini is a doubt for the fixture after picking up a suspected knee injury in Belgium's World Cup qualifier against Bosnia.

They sit in second place behind rivals Manchester City, who are only ahead on goal difference.
