Alex Sandro set to sign new £6.3m contract at Juventus that would match wages offered by Chelsea

ALEX SANDRO is set to sign a new deal at Juventus that will keep him out of Chelsea's reach for the foreseeable future.

According to reports in Italy, the Brazilian has been offered a bumper new deal at Juve worth £6.28million over five years.

The deal would match the salary offered by the Premier League champions, who pursued the former Porto man over the summer, but failed to land their target.

Sandro played in Brazil's 0-0 draw in Bolivia on Thursday and is set to be one of his country's star players when they enter next summer's tournament as one of the favourites.

And the 26-year-old is seen as the ideal man to occupy the left side of Antonio Conte's 3-5-2 formation as a wing back.

Sandro's current deal is worth £2.5m and keeps him at the club until June 2020.

With bonuses his new deal will see him earn what Chelsea have offered - but he has to sign it first.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, he is expected to put pen to paper on the new deal in November.

Luckily for Sandro and Brazil, they have already qualified for the World Cup before a ball had been kicked in the latest international break.

And with the Old Lady likely to go strongly in both Serie A and the Champions League, it could be a busy 12 months, if Brazil make it into the latter stages in Russia.

Juventus will hope to get their chase for the Scudetto back on track next weekend when they take on Lazio in the 5pm game at home on Saturday.
