Manchester City ready to meet £35.75m Barcelona release clause of Sergi Roberto in January
MANCHESTER CITY are ready to meet the buy-out clause for Barcelona ace Sergi Roberto, according to reports.
The 25-year-old full-back and midfielder is being looked at by former Nou Camp boss Pep Guardiola as the latest star to play in his tactical system.
And according to Don Balon, the Manchester club are ready to fork out the £35.8million to trigger his release clause.
Since making his first-team Barca debut in 2010 under Guardiola, Roberto has picked up 101 appearances for Barcelona's first team, but was not part of Julen Lopetegui's latest Spain squad who beat Albania and are due to play Israel.
Versatility is definitely one of Roberto's strengths, with the ability to play in midfield and either left or right back.
Roberto is also a Catalan, meaning if the region did vote for independence - should the state of Spain ever grant them a referendum - then he could play for a completely new national team, like Gerard Pique.

Barca issued a hands-off warning to Manchester United and Chelsea over the summer regarding Roberto.
And United might want to do the same, if rumours are to be believed that Barca are interested in signing their winger Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman has finally hit a rich vein of form for United after struggling towards the end of Louis van Gaal's tenure and the start of Jose Mourinho's - but he looks to be bang on song, despite not being picked in the latest France squad.
