Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal serve best Premier League food while Manchester United lay a ‘poor, fifth category buffet’

Brazilian ESPN journalist Joao Castelo-Branco reveals all about the fine-dining of the English top flight

CHELSEA, Manchester City and Arsenal provide the best Premier League grub, according to Brazilian journalists.

ESPN Brazil reporter Joao Castelo-Branco has covered English football for 15 years and knows the difference between a proper pie and a bland burger.

He said: "I've been to almost every stadium in the Premier League and there are definitely three highlights in regards to the food they serve: Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea."

Booze is sometimes on the cards but hardworking Castelo-Branco does not have time to indulge.

He said: "City and Arsenal release beer after the game, but because I can never enjoy that part, because I work late and finish when it's all closed, I'll point to Chelsea as the best in this game [for] the quality and variety of food."

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovic has spent the wealth of a small country on transforming the Blues into major world players and was paid back with the club's first Champions League trophy in 2012.

And it would appear he holds back no expenses when it comes to his journalist guests.

The likes of salmon, cheese, ham and vegetarian options are laid out in a spread for the hungry press at Stamford Bridge.

Castelo-Branco explained: "It's an exaggeration. Abramovic should make a lot of money from this buffet for the press."

Feijoada - a stew of beans with beef and pork - is the national dish of Brazil.

And this tasty treat would likely be on the menu should Chelsea host Brazilian opposition, as they are known to treat reporters travelling across Europe for Champions League matches to home comforts.

Manchester United could, in theory, wear stars on their shirts to symbolise the 20 league titles they have won - but they are getting no Michelin stars from the South American press.

Esporte Interativo correspondent Fred Caldeira said: "United's service is not bad, but it's behind the others I've experienced, like City and Arsenal."

While Castelo-Branco scoffed: "The food is always poor, poor quality and little choice. A fifth category buffet."
