Manchester United ‘fear’ Real Madrid will demand David De Gea as part of deal to buy Gareth Bale
Former Atletico Madrid keeper who pulled off save of the season contender against Liverpool once again interesting the Spanish side
MANCHESTER UNITED fear Real Madrid will demand David De Gea as part of any deal to buy Gareth Bale, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho and chief negotiator Ed Woodward believe next summer marks the best opportunity yet to land the Welshman.
But they are on alert over the suspicion that De Gea, who pulled off a genuine save-of-the-season contender in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool, could go the other way.
The Mirror report that Madrid may be willing to offload the £85million winger.
But any switch will likely see them force United to offer them De Gea in return.
The Spain goalkeeper was on the brink of joining Los Blancos in 2015 but a faulty fax machine put an end to that move.
Mourinho is reportedly keen to bring in Bale, who he believes is a truly world class player.
And the temptation may prove too much to resist, even if it means losing arguably the best goalkeeper in the world.
De Gea is thought to be happy at Old Trafford - he recently moved into a luxurious new property - and the club are considering offering him a new deal.
Big-spending French side Paris Saint-Germain are also in the market for De Gea.

But reports claim the keeper has told friends he sees himself lining up at the Bernabeu in the future.
Mourinho joked with Bale last summer over a transfer.
When the pair bumped into each other during their respective pre-season tours, the Portuguese told him: "I cannot buy you because you do not talk to me."
