Southampton vs Newcastle United: Magpies fan heartbroken after jetting in from Philippines to watch game before finding out it had been moved

A NEWCASTLE fan was left heartbroken after making a 13728-mile round trip only to miss the clash with Southampton.

The Filipino supporter shared his story to the Newcastle Supporters United Facebook group after the rearranged fixture was put back.

Gutted Kendrick Mon De Leon blew his savings to reach the UK but was forced to fly back before the game.

He wrote: "Im probably the only Filipino fan of Newcastle united..blew my savings just to get here… flew 6795 miles from the philippines just to see newcastle play in Southampton on the 14th…just to realise after a couple of weeks they moved the date of the game to the 15th..

"so happens to be the date of my flight back to the philippines…this may be Closest thing il ever get to see my team..might as well take this picture…and watch the match on modbro…:(

"ps. Cant rebook the flight(would cost a fortune) hope they get three points - :( feeling sad."

After the message was posted on Twitter, fellow fans were quick to offer help, with the idea of setting up a GoFundMe page raised.
