RICHARLISON could avoid an FA rap for diving.

Football bosses will study footage of the Watford star winning a penalty following Hector Bellerin’s tackle in the 2-1 win over Arsenal.

But Richarlison hopes to avoid punishment because while he was clearly looking for the spot-kick — put away by Troy Deeney — there was contact from Bellerin.

Asked what his feelings would be if Richarlison were to be banned, Watford boss Marco Silva said: “My reaction is to smile because you watch eight games in the Premier League. Maybe you find ten or 20 situations like this.”

Angry Arsenal boss Wenger said: “The penalty was a scandalous decision, ridiculous.”

Romelu Lukaku could also avoid an FA rap despite a clash with Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren in Saturday’s goalless draw.

The Manchester United striker appeared to catch Lovren with his boot which resulted in the Croatian rolling around on the floor.

It had seemed referee Martin Atkinson had missed the incident which would open the prospect of retrospective action. The FA are expected to review footage from Anfield today.

Former ref Graham Poll certainly thought it was worthy of a review, saying: “It’s deception, without a question. There is no contact.

“That’s as clear an example of a dive as you’re going to see and the FA’s review need to have a look at that.”
