Arsene Wenger will NOT face FA action despite claims he chased referee down tunnel after Watford defeat

Wenger was upset with the penalty awarded to Watford when Richarlison went down after a challenge from Hector Bellerin with Gunners going on to lose 2-1

THE FA are not investigating Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger after reports he was involved in an angry clash with referee Neil Swarbrick after the Gunners defeat at Watford.

Arsenal felt aggrieved when Swarbrick award the home side a controversial penalty with twenty minutes left when Hornets attacker Richarlison went down after a challenge from Hector Bellerin.

The converted Troy Deeney spot kick sparked the home side’s revival with Tom Cleverly bagging a last-gasp winner for Marco Silva’s side.

Wenger was fuming at Swarbrick but his confrontation with the referee will not be looked at the FA as the incident was included in his match report, therefore no reason to look into the incident any further.

Post match, Wenger said: "I would say it was not a penalty. It was a decision from the referee and that's it.
"It is a scandalous decision, It came at a moment in the game where it was absolutely important for Watford, no penalty, no goal."

Meanwhile, Watford manager Marco Silva was quick to defend Richarlison, who was accused of hitting the deck too easily under Bellerin's challenge.

Silva said: "I have seen the penalty now and I respect the decision of the referee, It's important, I didn't see a dive or a simulation.

"Richarlison has suffered the most fouls in the Premier League this season, and people are starting to say he dives.
"He is not. He is fair, He wins fouls like the best players in the world win fouls."

The FA will also not be taking any retrospective action against the Brazilian.
An independent panel of three has decided their was no simulation, and he won't receive a two-match ban under strict new Premier League rules brought in this season.
