WWE chief Vince McMahon linked with sensational takeover of Newcastle

Twitter went into overdrive again as rumour about billionaire's interest in Premier League club resurfaced

BILLIONAIRE WWE owner Vince McMahon has been linked with an incredible takeover of Newcastle United.

Mike Ashley yesterday put the club up for sale - and Toon fans reacted with joy that his ten-year rule could be over before Christmas.

But the obvious question now is just who would want to buy the club.

And, if Twitter opinion is anything to go by, then it seems there is a groundswell of support for the boisterous McMahon.

The American mogul has turned the spectacle of muscular, spandex-wearing men fighting each other into a massive money-making machine.

And his feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin is the defining battle of the past 20 years.

But behind the show is a ruthless businessman who turned a company on the brink of ruin into a behemoth.

And some Twitter users clearly think the same thing is capable of happening on Tyneside.
