And his admission will come as a major boost to Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds and Reading who both want the 21-year-old on loan.

The hotshot has had to be patient while recovering from a knee-ligament injury that struck him down a year ago during a spell at Derby.

A number of clubs both in the Premier League and second tier were interested in him during the summer.

However, after discussions with the Red Devils hierarchy, it was deemed better for Wilson to remain at Old Trafford in order to hit peak fitness.

But the suitors are likely to come circling again after he threw open the door to a potential temporary switch away once the transfer window reopens.

Speaking to MUTV, Wilson said: "I don't see why not. Obviously, the summer transfer window has gone and there was a lot of interest.

"But the staff all came to an agreement that I would stay until January to build on what I've already worked for.

"So I think it's certainly a possibility. We'll just have to talk and have a few conversations with the manager and certain people around here.

"I'm not ruling it out but we'll come to an agreement over what needs to be done."

Wilson, a former England Under-21s international, has played 15 times for the Red Devils and found the net on three occasions.

Most of his action has come in the Championship with Brighton.

He bagged five in 25 matches for the Seagulls during a season-long loan in the 2015/16 campaign.

He only managed four games at Derby before he was struck down by injury.

Wilson's current contract only runs until June 2019 but United do have an option to extend that for a further year.
