Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hits back at Troy Deeney after Watford captain aimed ‘cajones’ jibe at the Gunners
Watford captain hit out at Arsenal after they conceded a last-minute winner at Vicarage Road last weekend
ARSENE WENGER has fired back at Troy Deeney after the Watford captain claimed Arsenal have "no cajones".
The Gunners surrendered a 1-0 lead against the Hornets at the weekend, conceding a last-minute winner to Tom Cleverley.
And Deeney, who nabbed the equaliser from the penalty spot, sensationally told BT Sport after the final whistle: “There’s a reason they lost and it wasn’t because of one penalty.
“I have to watch what I say but… having a bit of cojones, I think the world is. Having a bit of nuts.
“Whenever I play Arsenal, and this is just personal, I go up and I think ‘let me whack the first one, let’s see who wants it’.
“I came on today, I jumped up with [Per] Mertesacker, didn’t even have to jump actually, nod it down, the crowd gets up, and they all just backed off.”
But his comments have clearly irked Arsenal boss Wenger, who has once again endured a mixed start to a Premier League campaign.
The Frenchman disagrees with Deeney’s comments and insists his players are all 100 per cent committed to the cause.

Wenger fired back: “Yes [Deeney’s comments hurt] but I know what my players really are. In the last seven games we had six wins and one draw.
“Comments are part of the modern game. I love my players and I trust their strength of character to respond. You can’t question our character. People try and put us down, they always have. Those comments aren’t justified.”
