The trip would take around four hours in a car, but on one of the luxury coaches Manchester United would likely take, it would be closer to six.

A train journey also takes around four hours to get to Swansea.

Travelling by private jet, which took off from Manchester this morning, will save Jose Mourinho and his players more than FIVE HOURS.

The flight time from Manchester to Swansea is just 45minutes, with a distance of just 147 miles.

Top scorer Romelu Lukaku, goalkeeper David De Gea and playmaker Juan Mata will be among those given a rest.

Phil Jones, who came off injured at the weekend, travelled with the squad - he is unlikely to play, however.

Marcos Rojo, who has not played this season because of injury, and veteran midfielder Michael Carrick could play.

Manchester United won the competition last season, but Mourinho hinted he will not be taking it as seriously this season.

He said: "If you ask me could the English football survive or even be better without this competition? Maybe. Maybe we would be fresher for European competitions, for example.

"We have this competition, we have to respect, we have to respect the sponsors, we have to respect the opponents. If we can win it, we win it.

"If we don't win it is because the opponents were better than us."
