Premier League’s ‘big six’ clubs lose battle to grab bigger slice of TV cash
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester United and City wanted £1billion in overseas TV revenue to be redistributed in their favour
THE Premier League’s ‘big six’ have lost their battle to grab a bigger slice of TV cash.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester United and City wanted £1billion in overseas TV revenue to be redistributed in their favour.
But the Premier League cancelled a meeting — due to be held today — after many of the other 14 clubs held firm.
Currently the system sees TV money doled out equally among the 20 clubs regardless of size or finishing position.
The ‘big six’ had argued they should receive a bigger share because more foreign viewers want to see them in action.
But a Premier League statement read: “It’s clear that there is currently no consensus for change.”
