Marc Overmars could take Matthijs De Ligt and Kasper Dolberg to Arsenal from Ajax if he is named new director of football
Former Gunners wing in line to make sensational return — and could even come back with gifts for Arsenal supporters
MARC OVERMARS could bring highly-rated Ajax stars Matthijs de Ligt and Kasper Dolberg to Arsenal if he is hired as director of football, according to reports.
The Gunners want a replacement in for the departed Richard Law, and have been considering their former winger, who has the same role at the Amsterdam Arena.
However, they have also agreed a deal in principle Raul Sanllehi, who is leaving his post with Barcelona, over the vacancy.
Mundo Deportivo report that Arsenal have an extra incentive to hire Overmars, 44, as the former Dutch international could bring with him two of the most sought-after youngsters in world football.
De Ligt, 18, plays as a centre-back and became the youngest Holland debutant since 1931 when he started the World Cup qualifying defeat to Bulgaria earlier this year.
Barcelona want to sign him as their future defensive lynchpin, but their hopes could be dashed if Overmars — who also starred at the Nou Camp — makes an Arsenal return.

Dolberg, meanwhile, is considered one of the best prospects to ever graduate from the Ajax academy.
The Dane, 20, shot to the fore with 23 goals last season and is also a target for several top clubs around the world.

Barca had earmarked Dolberg as a potential solution to the problem surrounding the misfiring Luis Suarez.
The Catalans want a cheap option, who would also work as a long-term replacement.
But Arsenal could have the upper hand if Overmars arrives.
