Bale-ing out

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho ‘calls Real Madrid to tell them he does not want Gareth Bale’

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has called Real Madrid to tell them he is not interested in Gareth Bale, according to reports.

The Portuguese has been linked with a move for the Welshman as he continues to struggle to win over the Los Blancos faithful after another injury-plagued season.

But Spanish outlet Diario Gol are reporting that Mourinho has now become sceptical of Bale's fitness and has put him off making a move.

The report goes on to claim that Mourinho — who was boss at the Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013 — called president Florentino Perez to confirm he did not want Bale.

But it is claimed Perez still wants to get rid of the former Tottenham star who has won three Champions League titles since arriving in 2013.

United reportedly ruling themselves out of the running could see Spurs go back in for their former star who missed 23 games through injury last season.

Real are said to be keen on Harry Kane — who will miss the trip to Manchester United today through injury — after he impressed during their 1-1 draw in the Champions League last week.

Kane has said he is happy in North London and Spurs have no need to sell last season's Golden Boot winner.

But a deal for Kane with Bale going the other way could see Spurs re-think their stance.

Diario Gol also claimed yesterday that Bale had been given the green light to leave the Spanish capital.

Zinedine Zidane admits Bale may not be available for the Spurs game as he fights back from his most recent injury.

He said: “Bale is already on the field, almost ready to train with the team, but I can’t give you a date for when he’ll be back.”

Earlier this week Bale shared a video of himself returning to solo training – raising hopes he would be available to face his former club.

But having been out since suffering a calf injury after scoring a stunner against Dortmund last month, he faces a race against time to be fit.
